The v0.60 update for AirBuccaneers is ready and available for download. If you already have version 0.50 or 0.51 installed it will automatically update to the 0.60 version. It will first update the launcher and then the actual game files. These should go through in a row, but in some cases the game might start in between the updates. So if the game launches after the first update, shut it down and launch it again in order to trigger the second update.

If you have older version than 0.50 or just want to download it manually, you can grab it from our download section.

This update will be the last major Alpha release before Beta. Of course we will provide smaller updates and fixes for the Alpha while you’re all waiting for the Beta.

    • Fixed invalid AA level being set from advanced settings when changing it.
    • Fixed XpToNextRank and Rank not updating between level loads.
    • Boost selection arrow now has shadow.
    • Fixed chat not working if joining when game is in end room mode.
    • Fixed captured ship not giving xp when destroyed.
    • Fixed captured ship not giving xp for hits.
    • Fixed airmine projectile sometimes hitting the player shooting it.
    • Fixed potential issue where airmine projectile could destroy the active airmine on creation.
    • Fixed cannon sometimes not playing shoot sound properly.
    • Gunpowder is again thrown automatically if held for too long.
    • Added next level name to loading screen.
    • Fixed team selection not saving in ranked games when changing team.
    • Fixed footstep landing sound playing on jump and not on land.
    • Server indicators now scale animation based on player amount in each server.
    • Increased kirmukarmu check frequency.
  • Balance
    • XP is now accumulated for player’s both characters equally.
    • Decreased XP gained from boarding by 80%.
    • No XP is given from boarding anchored ships.
    • Decreased flamer damage by 13%.
    • Increased rocket launch force by 31%.
    • Decreased active airmine base damage by 34%
    • Active airmine now gives decreased damage to players (66% of the base damage).
    • Airmine will now add impulse force to players when exploding.

This changelist can also be found in the game folder under name “Changelist.txt”.

We’ll conduct final in-house tests for the new 0.60 update of AirBuccaneers tomorrow, Tuesday 15th of May. This test will be streamed live through our Livestream.com channel which can be found in here: http://www.livestream.com/ludocraft

We are going to Vectorama this Summer!

Vectorama is one of the biggest LAN Gaming events in Finland. It’s held at Ritaharju school in Oulu between 7th and 10th of June 2012. Find more info about the event in their site: http://www.vectorama.info/ (Site in Finnish).

The event has many gaming competitions, one of which is AIRBUCCANEERS!

The AirBuccaneers Tournament is played in 8vs8 teams and the team that excels in dominating the skies of AirBuccaneers will be well rewarded:

  • 1st Place:
    • Developer Sauna event at LudoCraft office including:
      • Sauna at LudoCraft’s office with some catering
      • Guided tour at the LudoCraft production facilities
      • Private AirBuccaneers match against the devs (8vs8 Non-BYOC)
        • Surprise award if the winning team beats the devs’ team
      • Date of the event will be decided together with the winning team.
    • Pre-Alpha Deluxe activation keys for AirBuccaneers (Not normally available anymore)

As the time of the sixth Devs vs. Fans Battle dawned the Fans’ forces stood in quite low on fighters, but as the battle raged on their ranks grew to match the Devs’ numbers. But alas, this battle they already had lost, though valiantly fight they did. In the end the score stood at Three and Zero, and fallen had each valiant hero.

Once again the battle was lots of fun. In the end the result was: Devs (Buccaneers) 3 – Fans (Vikings) 0

The overall battle score is:

Devs: 4
Fans: 2

Hi all!

We have set up a Mumble server! In case you don’t know, Mumble is a VoIP software. This way we can all chat during tonight’s Devs vs. Fans Battle. This also gives you fans a good way to organize your tactics during the battle.

Here’s how you can join in on the chat:

In order to connect to the server you first need Mumble which you can grab from here: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/
You of course need headphones and a microphone too.

Server address is: 80.75.107.156
Port is Mumble default: 64738

There’s no password.

There’s two channels for Devs vs. Fans Battles:
Buccaneers
Vikings

If there’s lots of people on the server during the battle, we’ll use these sub-channels to make sure that no-one can spy on other team’s tactics.

The campaign for the AirBuccaneers HD continues for another two months until the end of June.

– The campaign has been a success. We want to offer more people the chance to earn a Premium Account. The campaign and the regular Devs vs Fans battles are an excellent way for us to get constant feedback from our active fans. It’s a great help for us, says the Creative Director Tomi Thurlin.

The rules are simple: earn 10,000 Experience Points in 14 days and the Alpha key to activate the Premium Account is yours. You can play both the Buccaneers’ and the Vikings’ sides, the side is irrelevant for the accumulation of points. The two week timer starts running the first time you log in to the new 0.50 version of the game.

The map screen has a timer telling you how many days, hours and minutes you’ve got left to earn the 10,000 XP. And of course there’s a counter showing how much XP you still have to earn to gain the free Alpha key. The fans can put their skills to the test against the AirBuccaneers developers regularly in the Devs vs Fans battles. The next battle will be on May 9th at 20:00 GMT+3.

The challenge is on! Once again it’s time to head to the skies, load the cannons and blast others down!

Next Devs vs. Fans Battle, sixth in its series, will be held on Wednesday May 9th at 20:00 GMT+3.

Here’s the timetable:

  • 19:00 in Stockholm, Berlin, Paris, Rome & Madrid
  • 18:00 in London, UK
  • 13:00 in New York, USA
  • 10:00 in Los Angeles, USA
  • 05:00 12th of April in Wellington, New Zealand
  • 03:00 12th of April in Sydney, Australia
  • 02:00 12th of April in Tokyo, Japan
  • 21:00 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
  • 21:00 in Moscow, Russia

Here’s the basics:

  • We’ll play on the Official LudoCraft server
  • LudoCraft’s team will play as Buccaneers
  • The game will be played on which ever version happens to be latest at that time
  • Match is going to be “first come, first served”, so be fast and be there early
  • It’s best out of five (thus far the score’s been set after four rounds)

Last time, after fierce battle, the Devs surpassed the Fans and rose to the skies as winners.
The overall score is Devs 3 – Fans 2.
